It’s impossible to go under in pure quicksand, as it’s composed of rock and water. The human body floats in water, and rock is even heavier than water. As soon as you stop moving, the quicksand actually pushes you upward. It’s simple physics.
It’s not dangerous at all as portrayed in countless adventure movies. The only danger is when it’s in a tidal area during low tide, as one could get trapped and not be able to be rescued before the tide comes in.
