Alessio

For true lovers of the old pro wrestling, I'd recommend Alessio's YouTube channel which shows fascinating clips of old bouts from Germany, South Korea, etc. The only downside is that these videos are 'snippets' lasting about a minute long, but very fascinating nevertheless:

I should mention that I am deaf. I wear one hearing aid; I speak well; and I mainly lipread. For wrestling, I’d remove my hearing aid. So, if you are in discomfort during our bout, you tap me or the floor, and I’ll back off immediately.

You might be wondering what compelled me to write this missive. I have lost count the number of times a prospective opponent baulked at the mere mention of my deafness; he would either ‘disappear’ mid-conversation or even block me.

I am just a normal guy who happens to be unable to hear, and who happens to love the old pro wrestling. As the recommendations on my profile attest, I am a friendly and approachable guy with a strong health and safety background. My profile states that I am interested in roleplay (or non-competitive wrestling).

I am a frequent visitor to this site’s chat room. Sometimes, I leave this chat room intact in the background as I am using my laptop for something else. Sometimes, my hearing aid does not pick up the alert sound whenever I receive a message via the chat room; because of this, the sender would get the hump and block me afterwards. Sometimes, I do not respond to messages because I might be chatting or having a video call with a fellow wrestler. And sometimes, admittedly I don’t feel like responding but only if the message I receive is strange, offensive, or irrelevant. For examples:

a) “Do you like wrestling?”
b) “I am horny LOL”
c) “I think you might like wrestling.”
d) “I wanna shag you right now.”
e) “I want to apply chokeholds or bodyslams on you.”

I could go on and on.

It is not in my nature to offend or ignore, but I am simply not interested in having endless conversations with someone that lead to nowhere, nor am I prepared to waste time and energy dealing with rude messages, or pointless messages that have nothing to do with my wrestling needs whatsoever. I don't mind chatting endlessly with someone, but I am here to look for opponents or friends who share my great love of the old pro wrestling, especially Brit Pro (WoS). I probably have annoyed or offended a few on this site in the past; life is too short, so I hope we can let bygones be bygones, and that if we have similar wrestling needs, we can resume communicating and hopefully have a bout.

Thank you for your time in reading this.

One of my favourite wrestlers is Tibor Szakacs of Hungary. To me, he was a heavier version of the great Johnny Saint. Like Johnny, Tibor’s wrestling style is still a joy to behold: he had a terrific imagination, and, for a such big guy, he had great athleticism, especially when escaping ground holds (as the following bout attests). Tibor may have possessed a dour personality, but his strong Greco-Roman background, cagey demeanour, and looks of anguish (maybe genuine or maybe through acting) helped make this sport as authentic as possible. Also, I always have this impression that he felt awkward in the ring as if conscious of being performing near naked in front of hundreds of prying eyes; I am sure many would say he had a fantastic physique. As he wrestled mainly in the UK, it was a shame that his nationality prevented him from having a shot at any championship title, for he would have been one of the greatest champions ever.

His brother Pete was also a grappler (in a lighter division) and later became a referee. Like his brother, Pete was a great wrestler with a fantastic imagination.

I would like to share with you one of my favourite American bouts, which took place 70 years ago. Baron Michele Leone was the hirsute one, hailing from Italy; Rito Romero was from Mexico. Aficionados of ground holds will appreciate this bout. I have always admired Romero: unfussy but effective wrestling style; film-star looks; and a tall, lean, and tidy physique. It is a shame that there is only one bout featuring this Mexican on YouTube, but at least the above bout is nearly one-hour long. Enjoy this match.

Cassandro

If you have access to Amazon Prime, you might be interested to know that there is a new film about the world of luche libre: ‘Cassandro’ from Mexico. Gael García Bernal is excellent in the eponymous role in this wrestling biopic (which is spoken in Spanish and English). Recommended.
