Too few real opponents
Northern New England feels like a dessert when it comes to meeting guys who want to wrestle. When I first signed up for this site, I was excited to meet some brothers to grapple and practice moves. Unfortunately, what I've fond is a lot of fake profiles. If my area is a dessert, the profiles are mirages.
When you scroll though the profiles of guys in New Hampshire and Maine, almost none of them have opponents or recommendations. Many guys have been on the site for years and are not willing to meet up for a match. If that's the case, why have a profile at all?

09/2/2017 12:56Oh and dont make enemies with the folks here. Once a few upper eschelon people herr hate you for having an opinion (even if you are right) no amount of pics or vida or recommendations will help get you more matches.

09/2/2017 03:34It's like that here in the US as well. But I also think that the U.K. has a ton of interested individuals. Here in our area of the our country, i don't feel it is the same.

08/2/2017 22:47Well from one (former) Mainer to another, it is very difficult. Even here in the Boston area I find it difficult because people either never reply, or they are into something different than they say. On this site, its more people not replying or just stop replying in general.

Yeah, the no reply is common. I thought Boston area would be a gold mine. To find out it isn't is pretty sad.

At the risk of this becoming a moan session (and there's little wrong with that) I'll.point out that in my area of North East England there are several wrestlers but it is almost impossible to arrange matches with them. The majority are decent, reliable men but can't meet for various, genuine reasons. There are two main wrestling areas (Manchester and London) and I think that if you don't live near them you have to travel for matches.

07/2/2017 10:42Maybe posting a photo would help you find opponents. Give it a try, Maybe it will help you more than a rant blog.

In fairness he does have a photo in his gallery.
Unfortunately Sparrhawk your experience would be the same on any site and it does get frustrating. Is travelling for a match not an option for you?

Tynesider, thanks for the comment. I have always traveled for matches, an hour or two. The two matches I have required travel time. I expected that and don't mind it. At least I'm not the only one who finds is frustrating.
Fighterguyy, I put more stock in recommendations than pictures. Most guys in my area have pictures but no matches/recommendations. I'd much rather meet a guy with a good history of showing up than one who puts his face/body in a profile but has never had a match.

I'm just saying it is worth a try. Also interests help people find you by searching.
Good luck!

Sparrhawk. I think Fighterguy has a point about a photo. I have a perception that men without a profile photo rarely have any or many past opponents. I had a quick.look just now at the men online and it backed up my theory. However, Sod's Law dictated that the 1st I saw was Belgianjudoka with 62 opponents.
It could be worth a try but if you are not comfortable having a profile photo then don't do it. The important thing is that you don't lose heart. As I said it DOES get frustrating but that is part and parcel.of these contact sites. This is still the best site by far and it is easier to find genuine wrestlers.
Good luck.

Thanks for the dialogue and advice guys. I'd be happy with just one steady wrestling partner. Good luck to you both!
